Nike Phantom Vision Elite Review

Sadly Magista is not any more on the marked with Phantom Vision Elite considered as their replacement in the football world. Although they are not very similar to each other and have slight differences in their look and design, without wasting your time, we will give you our view about these incredible boots.

The Presentation

It is something we haven’t seen before from Nike, with the return of “Ghost Laces” we see something that last sawed on Nike Mercurial Vapor VI. However, back then, the lace cover was different from the way it is now. The mesh NikeSkin upper hides the laces from our gaze. In comparison with Adidas, their biggest rival on the market, Nike it’s doing everything to keep the laces, while Adidas start to convert every model into laceless one. So its extremely interesting what will happen in future and which one of those giants will be the winner in this competition, the race for the best football shoes in the world.

With plenty of colour varieties, you can have black and orange model so you can be undetected on the field or state your presence on the field with Volt & White and show what you are capable. But with Nike “Design your Own” tool, you can pick whatever colours you’d like to have and be unique on the pitch.

Any Problems With Your First Touch?

Nike made Phantom Vision a universal boot, so whenever you are striker, defender or midfielder, the specialised areas makes striking, receiving and passing much easier. The covered laces create a clean surface that makes shots and long passes almost perfect. Also, the textured instep provides close to perfection first touch control on the ball.

The mesh-based NikeSkin upper feels soft and premium and its also thinner than Hyper Venom and Tiempo lines, but as thin as Mercurial lines.

In that way, Nike is trying to say that you don’t have to ditch the laces to get a clean surface but hide them underneath the upper and you still will have this perfect clean surface which will give you better control on the ball.

How Do They Fit?

In terms of fitting Phantom Vision on your feet, you won’t have any problems with it. This boots will be ready to go as soon as you put them on your feet without wasting any time. With this model, you loosen the laces, grab both sides of the shoe and slide your foot in. You won’t have any struggles like if you are trying to put on Mercurial Superfly 5. So while your teammates are enjoying the training, you will be on the sideline trying to put them on. Also, it keeps your foot comfortable with the flexible mesh layers inside the boot and with the hidden lacing system, your shoe will stay tighten with one pull of the laces.

Performance On the Field

In general, Nike has made some good and bad takedown models in the past, but with Phantom Vision, they have done something good. The internal mesh heel liner doesn’t feel cheap, and it offers the right amount of padding and grips your heel extremely well. The soleplate offers flexibility and yet still solid, which makes it responsive and perfect for firm ground surfaces. In terms of traction the Phantom Vision it’s not so aggressive as Mercurial models which drew inspiration from the agile cheetahs but its much more aggressive than the already retired Magista. With the bladed rotational studs which Nike added just under your toes, you will easily get a grip and escape from the difficult situation you are locked in.

The Final Verdict

In overall Phantom vision prove itself as one of the best football boots at the moment, with ticking all boxes for comfort, traction, presentation and soft touch. Despite being a takedown model in this new silo, the Phantom Vision does offer quality and comfort. With that boot, Nike gave us a hard solid boot which feels good, fit well, pass and shoot well, and it raised the bar close to perfection. So if you are not sure what football boots you want to buy, this model is undoubtedly one that is worth putting on your shortlist.
